Akhilesh Yadav Targets UP Government, Says “State Needs IITs, Not SITs”

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state government, alleging that it poses a threat to democratic institutions and has failed on governance, law and order, employment, and farmers’ welfare.

Addressing party leaders and workers at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav claimed that the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election would be crucial for safeguarding democracy. He urged party workers to remain vigilant at the booth level, closely monitor electoral rolls, and maintain courteous conduct while engaging with voters.

In a pointed remark aimed at the state government, Yadav said, “Uttar Pradesh should be creating IITs, but instead it is creating SITs,” referring to the formation of Special Investigation Teams while criticising the government’s handling of recruitment examination paper leaks. He alleged that examination papers were deliberately leaked, jeopardising the future of thousands of job aspirants.

The former chief minister also accused the BJP government of presiding over rising inflation, unemployment, and corruption, while claiming that the state’s law-and-order situation had deteriorated with increasing incidents of murder, robbery, and crimes against women.

Yadav further alleged that farmers were struggling with shortages of fertilisers and seeds, irregular power supply, and rising cultivation costs due to higher diesel prices. He also claimed that educated youth across rural areas were facing widespread unemployment.

Senior party leaders, including Shivpal Singh Yadav, Saleem Iqbal Sherwani, Rajendra Chaudhary, Dharmendra Yadav, and Aditya Yadav, were present at the meeting.

The BJP has consistently rejected similar allegations in the past, maintaining that it is committed to improving governance, strengthening law and order, and ensuring transparent recruitment processes
